A self-taught lensman from the northern peninsular Malaysian state of Penang, I started my journey of light and colours in nature photography before later developing an interest in capturing action.
Currently, I am an assistant chief photographer at The Star, Malaysia’s largest English language newspaper, where I cover a variety of assignments on a daily basis in Kuala Lumpur. I count sports and news among my specialties.
Even in my free time, you will often find me capturing moments with either a smaller camera or my iPhone. Expensive gear doesn’t make a great picture; good composition skills do.
Indeed, photography is my life and I consider myself lucky to be able to make a living doing what I am passionate about.
I am humbled to be named a Canon EOS Ambassador and inducted into the ThinkTank Pro Team. I consider these as both a responsibility and a recognition of my work.
I find inspiration in the words of Ansel Adams, Andy Rouse and Robert Capa. They form my daily mantra.
“I want a picture to reflect not only the forms but what I had seen and felt at the moment of exposure.” – Ansel Adams
“I don’t respect reputation – it’s the picture that counts.” – Andy Rouse
“If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” – Robert Capa
