THE STAR - Wednesday, 14 Sept, 2005 KUALA LUMPUR: Indian sex symbol Mallika Sherawat is no stranger to controversy. Fresh from a MMS sex-clip controversy in Bombay, she dropped a “bombshell” involving her co-star Jackie Chan during the filming of the movie The Myth. The Bollywood actress said he promised to close his eyes during a scene in which her blouse comes off leaving her topless on the set. “I think Jackie changed his mind and kept his eyes open. And he told me 'I'm not gay, why should I close my eyes.' He's a rogue!” exclaimed Mallika in jest. The cheeky Chan apparently did not stop there. According to Mallika, he deliberately fumbled during the topless shoot. “Surprisingly, it involved a lot of takes. I think he deliberately did it. He would deliberately do something wrong, so that he had to do a retake,” she said with a smile. “I am sure. Typical (of male actors!).” She said Chan was the one who made sure it was a closed-set so that she would not be uncomfortable. Mallika was in town for two nights to promote The Myth headlined by Chan. It opens in Malaysia on Sept 23. It is not often that Bollywood actresses make a joke out of situations like this, and it shows that Mallika has boldly gone where not many Bollywood actress want to tread. She made her leading lady debut in the film Khwahish (Desire) in 2003 which got a lot of buzz as it featured her kissing her male co-star 17 times – something unheard of in Bollywood. Her most recent film was Murder which saw her playing a housewife who has an affair with her ex-boyfriend. In the MMS controversy, the clip was rumoured to feature the screen siren in a sexual act. However, it was later confirmed that the woman featured was a 19-year-old Mexican porn star who resembled Mallika. The 24-year-old beauty is meanwhile enjoying the whirlwind tour of The Myth before returning to India to film two Bollywood projects. After her brief stop in Malaysia, she will fly to Toronto for the premiere of The Myth. “It has been a very rewarding experience. I did not imagine that I would get a chance to star in a big movie like The Myth. “I am very grateful to Jackie and Stanley Tong (the director).”
